Strike Resources is developing a world class iron ore asset in Peru, South America.
The Company originally listed on the Australian Securities Exchange in March 2000 under the name Fast Scout Limited and was recapitalised in early 2006 as Strike Resources Limited with a focus on mineral exploration.
Since that time the Company has actively acquired and explored for mineral deposits and in July 2006 entered into an agreement with privately-owned Peruvian companies, Apurimac Ferrum S.A (AF), Minera los Andes y el Pacifico S.A (MAPSA) and D&C Group SA (D&C) to earn a 51% equity interest in the Apurimac and Cuzco iron ore Projects.
Strike has since acquired a further 17.15% interest in the Projects from MAPSA through an associate company, Iron Associates Corporation, to take Strike’s total interest in the Projects to 68.15%.
Iron ore production from the Company’s Peruvian assets will commence in 2009, at an initial rate of 2 million tonnes of iron ore lump per annum from the Cuzco Project (Stage 1). Production will substantially increase in 2012, when the Apurimac Project is brought on-stream (Stage 2) producing 20 million tonnes of high grade iron ore concentrate/sinter per annum. Stage 3 is expected to commence in 2015 with an additional 20 million tonnes of concentrate/sinter from the Cuzco Project, taking combined production to over 40 million tonnes of iron ore per annum.
